Frequently Asked Questions:

Who may attend?

The YMCA Afterschool Program is available to students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, regardless of which school they attend.

Where is the Afterschool Program held?

The Broadmoor YMCA is home to our Afterschool Program. Located at 215 Carroll Street, the Broadmoor Y is directly east of the intersection at Youree Drive and Carroll Street.

What will my child do in the Afterschool Program?

The Afterschool Program is a safe place for middle-school kids to enjoy time with their friends and peers. Participants enjoy activities both inside our gymnasium and outside on our sports field

Who will be supervising my child?

YMCA counselors. We hire individuals who are college age and older to work with your children.

What is the cost and how do I pay?

The yearly cost for Program Participants is $1,080 and for YMCA Student or Family Members it is $810. These fees may either be paid in full at the start of the Program or drafted out of an account every month. The amount drafted each month is $120 for Program Participants and $90 for Student and Family Members. If you decided to have the fees drafted, a voided check from the account you wish to use must accompany your child's registration form. All fees have been prorated to included holidays and non-school days.

Are there any scholarships or financial aid available?

Yes.  Because the YMCA of Shreveport-Bossier City is a United Way agency, we are able to provide financial assistance.  Please ask a YMCA staff member to explain the Financial Aid process and provide you with an application.

How long does the Afterschool Program run and what days may my child attend?

The Afterschool Program is available every day that Caddo Parish schools are in session. Children will not attend during school holidays, teacher in-service, or any other non-school days.

Will transportation be provided for my child from his/her school to the YMCA?

Unfortunately, transportation is not made available by the YMCA. Students attending Youree Drive Middle School are within walking distance of the Broadmoor YMCA.

If you have any other questions regarding the YMCA Afterschool Program, please call Rachel Clark at the Broadmoor YMCA at (318) 674-9635.
