What is it?

Urban- in the city, no streets blocked off.
Adventure- top secret course, clues used to find destinations, multiple disciplines (running, biking, paddling, etc.)
Race- it's competitive. First two teams in each division (male/male, male/female, female/female, and adult/teen) to complete all passports wins!

The YMCA Urban Adventure Race is the ultimate urban hybrid adventure, sending teams of 2 racers out on a mystery course around the city. The course ranges from 10-20 miles (10-15 miles biking 3-5 miles running) and 2-4 hours, depending on your planning skills and endurance level. Teams will combine athleticism with thought-provoking strategy and may expect to be running, biking, canoeing, and performing other crazy stunts in a race around the city. This one-day race will have you challenging the predictable!

Where does it go?

This is kept secret and unfolds as the race is completed one leg at a time. You will start at the Downtown YMCA and head out from there throughout the city on bike or foot. Teams are handed maps, initial clues, and passports explaining a task and instructions for getting from place to place. Additional clues are disseminated along the course.

Mandatory modes of transportation and equipment needed:

Running/Jogging

• Bike (either road bike or mountain bike is fine) for each team member on course

• Bike helmet for each team member on course

• 1 cell phone (minimum)

• 1 digital camera (a cell phone that takes pictures is acceptable)

• A smart phone is highly-recommended as internet is legal in this race.

• Water

• Pen or Pencil

• Your brain and a sense of adventure!

** Swimming is not listed as a discipline; however we do reserve the right to get you wet!
