“Shreveport-Bossier: My City, My Community, My Home”

In an effort to combat a growing sense of community apathy and low self-esteem, the YMCA of Northwest Louisiana launched a new initiative in February of 2022.  The initiative consists of two components – periodic panel discussions and a weekly podcast interview series.  The purpose of the initiative is to create more awareness around the positive aspects of our community to help cultivate a healthier self-image.  We also want to leverage our position at the Y as a community center to bring people together to address some of the challenges we are facing as a community.

Panels hosted to date are:

  • Community philanthropy and volunteerism
  • Economic development
  • First Shreveport mayoral forum
  • Dr. James Andrews on how to develop young athletes
  • Screening of Providence House documentary
  • Juvenile and young adult crime
  • CADA crisis response
  • Crime prevention forum

85 podcasts published to date.

Video of all panels and podcasts can be found on the YMCA of Northwest Louisiana’s YouTube, Facebook and Instagram channels.  Additionally, you can find the episodes wherever you get your podcasts by searching “Shreveport-Bossier: My City, My Community, My Home”.
