[Shreveport, Louisiana – February 15, 2017] – In preparing to open the new BHP Billiton YMCA, Gary Lash, CEO, YMCA of Northwest Louisiana, knew that finding the right leader to manage this facility would be a major factor in its success. Mike Mosura is that person. Mosura joined the YMCA staff in December 2016 as Executive Director of the BHP Billiton YMCA.
“Mike hit the ground running and has been an incredible asset to our already fantastic team. We expect this facility to have a tremendous impact on our community and I am confident that we have the right person in place to successfully accomplish our goals.” – Gary Lash, CEO, YMCA of Northwest Louisiana
Mosura’s experience revolves around the health of our community and serving its residents well. In his previous role as Parks & Recreation Supervisor for the City of Bossier and in the many years of owning and operating local fitness facilities, he brings over 20 years of facility management and communications experience to this new position. Mosura was also instrumental in both marketing and community relations aspects of his previous positions, which will be invaluable as the YMCA invites the community to experience the benefits of this new facility.
Mosura has also served as a member of the Bossier Parish School Board for over 15 years. He has grown to know our Northwest Louisiana community well in his service through numerous organizations over the years including United Way of Northwest Louisiana – Board of Directors, Louisiana State University – Alumni Board of Directors and First Priority – Board of Directors…to name a few. Mosura received the 2011 “40 Under 40” Business Leaders Award from the Shreveport-Bossier Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of First Baptist Bossier and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
In preparing to open the BHP Billiton YMCA in the first quarter of 2017, Mike Mosura is dilligently working with Y staff to prepare the facility to welcome members and community partners to this regional beacon for healthy living in Northwest Louisiana. Close to 70,000 square feet, this new fitness and aquatic center will ensure that people of all ages and backgrounds will have access to state-of-the-art exercise equipment and group exercise studios with incredible programming. The gymnasium will be home to youth and adult sports leagues such as basketball and indoor volleyball. An indoor family pool and a 50-meter competition pool will promote year-around life-saving swim programs and serve as a home for area swimmers to host and compete in local, state and regional events. The Y will continue to offer quality services and will be able to expand our offerings to include programs such as “Y Readers”, a summer reading program that will fight illiteracy in our community. The BHP Billiton YMCA will allow us to better serve our members and our community by increasing our capabilities and expanding our reach.
“I am thrilled to be part of a project and an organization that is changing the landscape of healthy living in our community. Northwest Louisiana is going to be tremendously impacted by what we have to offer at the BHP Billiton YMCA. We have an awesome team at the Y and I’m looking forward to working with all of them to bring this facility to life and to ensure it serves our community well!”
